Hillycroft Fisheries are proud to announce that following a successful audit, they have earned the coveted sustainable fish certificate from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

Hillycroft Fisheries already displays a provenance poster so customers can see where the haddock being sold each day has been sourced from, but can now use the blue fish ecolabel from MSC to promote this to its customers by displaying it on the menu.

Owner Rafael Chandler said, “I decided to become MSC certified as I wanted to use the business to promote fish and chips as a sustainable meal. I am passionate about delivering a product to our customers that is sustainable and being transparent about where our ingredients come from to make our delicious fish and chips. Our customers can purchase their haddock from us safe in the knowledge that it is being caught responsibly from sustainable fishing grounds, ensuring that Britain’s iconic dish can be enjoyed by future generations. I am proud that Hillycroft Fisheries is the first fish and chip shop in Morley to be MSC certified and I am honoured that myself and my staff can promote sustainable seafood in this manner. I hope that it encourages our customer to look for the ecolabel on other seafood they may purchase elsewhere."
